Frag-a-Friend: Post Playtest 1 & What's Coming Next


More Frag, More Friend, More Fun

The FaF team has wrapped up our first scuffed internal playtest based on the latest build. We've got updates, ideas, and improvements lined up, and we're looking forward to future game updated.

Our current focus is on fixing bugs, improving visual clarity, expanding player feedback, and adding planned content. Here's a breakdown of what's changing and what we're working on:

Clarity & Feedback

  • Hit feedback Improvements: We're making it more obvious when you get hit, since some players struggle to notice when they were taking damage.
  • Sound Pass: Enemy gunshots and player footsteps are hard to hear so we'll be making them louder.
  • Score UI Overhaul:  Let's face it, the score UI sucks. It's hard for players to tell which team they are, and no visual cues to indicate what points are being added and when a new map transition is coming.
  • Post Match: UI breaks after retuning to the lobby from a match, will be fixing.
  • Text Legibility: Text is often hard to read, especially in the lobby menu. We're working to enhance legibility to make things easier for players.
  • Settings: We have a settings menu already in the works (top left button in menu). The menu will be added after some finishing touches.
  • Tutorials: We're workshopping tutorial ideas to make controls and mechanics more clear to players.

Gameplay & Balance

  • Gun Balancing: We will be adding recoil to the Auto Shotty, decreasing Thundergun ammo capacity, and nerfing the SMG.
  • Card System: Cards are going to be rebalanced, you will not get all 5 of your cards every round and instead have to earn them from card pickups found in the map. We are also planning on adding a rubberbanding game mechanic that replenishes a card to the losing player each round.
  • Replay: Game cannot be replayed properly after a match has been played. Players have to exit and relaunch to solve. Absolutely fixing this.

Map fixes

  • Parking Garage: We will fix the colliders. One car is missing a collider, one corner of floor 1 has too big of a collider that players can get stuck behind.
  • Swamp: Players can swim under the map and get stuck, we'll add a collider to solve this problem.
  • Shipping Crate: Players spawn on top of an Auto Shotty pickup. This will be moved.

New Content Plans

Portals

That's right, we're adding portals to our game. They already work but we need to make an added effort to make them more seamless in multiplayer.  These portals will come with 2 new maps designed around them.

Other

We're gonna keep adding more of everything whenever we can:

  • More cards
  • More guns
  • More hats
  • More maps
